Hi Bruce, thank you for your feedback. Because the Spelling Bee database contains both American and British spellings, the game can potentially pull the British or American spelling of a word and then will only accept that spelling as correct (i.e. if it pulls "neighbor," it will not accept "neighbour"). We hope to distinguish the two databases in the future.

2000-2150 neurons a day is great! The number of neurons each person earns in a day varies greatly, depending on their activities in the app or on our site.

There is a limit each day on the number of games for which you can earn the maximum neuron total. After you play a certain number of games, the neurons that you earn during that particular time will be reduced.

Thank you for your question! If you look below the Usage Note on the dictionary entry for "man" that you linked to, you'll see that it comes from American Heritage Dictionary. Per the American Heritage website, "The Usage Panel is a group of nearly 200 prominent scholars, creative writers, journalists, diplomats, and others in occupations requiring mastery of language. Annual surveys have gauged the acceptability of particular usages and grammatical constructions." You can learn more about the American Heritage Usage Panel here:
