but some people say that "she asked me if i am a teacher" is correct becoz it is a habitual fact and the other sentence is wrong?

she asked me, "Are you a teacher?" what would be the sentence in indirect speech? 1 she asked me if i am a teacher. or 2 she asked me if i was a teacher.

hi every one, i've no info about the slang "be right back". Would any body like to help me by telling me what is meant by "be right back" and where this slang is used?
