H.G. Wells' WAR OF THE WORLDS & THE INVISIBLE MAN are counted as favourites too.

(Love the thread, but the question is too hard!)

The reason why I like PKD's novel is because I am
very much interested in his life and I feel empathy for it.

Although his novels are much less scientific than even Heinlein
and his stories often end with kind of deus ex machina,
I am drawn to his story because it seems he is always a part of story,
existing somewhere around in it.

I like his short stories too like Paycheck, The Days of Perky Pat, Golden Man etc..

-- I think his short stories, as a whole, were the best things he ever wrote.
I recommend anyone not familiar with his work to read 3 random short stories of his. I dare you to not read a fourth.

I'm glad Philip K Dick has had a few mentions. I'm a little shy to name one of his books as I'm a little biased (I have a collection of almost 300 editions of his writings in my library).

I freaking LOVE sci-fi and it is difficult to name one.

CHILDHOOD'S END - Because it gave me hope that intergalactic life may not be malignant.

DUNE - It was so rich in the culture and detail of the people of the story, I felt like I'd lived there.

1984 (if we decide it IS sci-fi)- Despite a couple of flaws, that intense story still wont leave my head since reading it 7 years ago.

You got me Tyson!, I thought I could slip that one past, poor old Hoges, is he still having trouble with the ATO?.

Funny you should mention Paul Hogan's trouble with the Australia Tax Office. Just the other day there was an article in the paper that a Swiss bank account of his has just been cleaned out. Looks like the Tax Man finally got the money owed.

Oh yes! and we Aussies all speak like Paul Hogan (crocodile Dundee)

That's a lie and you know it Tov. It's actually only the women who speak like Crocodile Dundee.

What about this one?
Useful if it works, however I doubt that it does.

What stout little horses, so beautiful.

The Carlton Clydesdale's were a symbol of the Carlton Brewery, such a shame they are only in ceremonial works now.

If only Carlton Draught would go the same way as the horses (Not much of a fan of beer).

Sorry about that Listening... works fine where I am too.

Its not a clip by the way, just an image of the album cover and the song plays over it.
You could try going to YOUTUBE and attempt another version of it. Its called VENUS AND MARS REPRISE, not to be confused with the 1st version of the same song on the same album titled simply VENUS AND MARS.

I feel this REPRISE version is nicer. Makes me think of the days when I first started reading science fiction.
