I can't imagine what it would have been like to be a hostage for more than a year. And even though their release must have been a relief, it must have been difficult making the transition back to everyday life.

It seems to me that "protrude" often has a negative connotation, as in descriptions of medical conditions, etc.

Does anyone have an example of "protrude" used in a positive sense?
