Actually, a necromancer is a specific type of magician, one who practices necromancy, the art of divination by communing with the dead.

Perhaps it is due to the types of people I tend to associate with, but I would reverse the order of the definitions. In my experience, the mathematical definition is the one most used and should be first, followed by the textual one. Anxious
