Hallmark is considered lightweight, over-general, and, tellingly, absolutely mawkish. A Hallmark moment would be something communicated that states or implies 'happily ever after' and other such impossibilities. Eschewing hallmark moments is a superb goal, succeeding in eschewing these anti-thought, baby-emotion sentiments, all dripping with pink saccharine notions is to warrant attribution of merit. Hallmark wholly mediocritizes into entire superficiality moments that otherwise would likely be fraught with deeper meaning, would perhaps be some experience to take away with a full heart. A greeting card written by the cabin boy of a poetaster by definition has an emotional/intellectual true vacuum. Hallmark sappy sentiment is not to be sought, and if proffered, to be declined politely. To decline with any intensity will take the hallmark moment and upend it, and the profferer will likely become angry. If embarrassed by their offer, fisticuffs is not unlikely. The greater populace, either undereducated or anti-education people, the base base as it now can be safely called, finds depth of emotion in a mass produced greeting card. One quotes Ginsberg: Howl, but with this modification; he referred to the best minds of his generation. Now the best minds are not so good. The best minds of these generations since Ginsberg's have labored under severely robbed of budgets educational funding, have endured costliness of colleges, has experience fewer libraries, all money saving maneuvers that allow tax cuts of a needless class. Hallmark is their standard, as is patriotism described solely a supporting the ridiculous Iraq destruction and murders of around 55,000 people, 5,000 US. We showed them, USA! USA!
