In the UK, to be 'banged up' can mean to be 'put in jail/gaol'! There is a TV show called 'Banged Up Abroad' about British people who are in foreign prisons.

Discrimination is alive and well in 2017. How coincidental is it that on on the anniversary of an executive order to end racial discrimination in 1948 that "President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he plans to reinstate a ban on transgender individuals from serving "in any capacity" in the U.S. Military,..."? This was reported by CNN (

I agree with the other posters - this term is not from the UK, especially not from the lovely island of Jersey. It is from New Jersey in the USA that has a reputation for crime and hard justice (at least in the movies).

Ashley is saying that Randy is manipulating you into a position or circumstance in which you could be harmed in some way. He is setting up the scenario. It can also be used in a positive way, such as 'his parents set him up with furniture for his new apartment'.
