Thank you all for your input. We have passed your comments on to our editorial team for consideration.
In response to your point about the word "hot" being used as an adjective complement, the following comes from the American Heritage Dictionary's entry for the term:
1. In a hot manner; hotly.
2. While hot:

“They told us, ‘We don’t have the budget for more staff.’”
This sentence is written according to the punctuation style of American English, which is why the period is inside both sets of quotation marks at the end of the sentence.
‘The prime minister is reported to have said that he is “in disagreement with the president’s remarks”, which prompted a quick response from the White House.’
This sentence follows the punctuation style common in British English (signified by the use of single quotation marks at the beginning and end of the sentence), and thus the comma following “in disagreement with the president’s remarks” is placed outside of the closing double quotation mark. The period at the end of the sentence is placed inside of the closing single quotation mark because there is no reporting verb introducing the sentence — thus the period "belongs" to it.

Hello Koh Elaine,
Can you please provide some details about what occurs when you try to make a post normally (without using the "Quote" feature)? Are you able to type words into the Subject or Message boxes? Are any of the buttons ("Preview," "Post," "Cancel") grayed out, or do they simply not respond?
Please also let us know if you are you using the forums on a computer or on a mobile phone, and on what operating system and browser.

It is possible that the page of the definition or article is being closed or left too quickly. Please be sure to remain on a given definition or article for at least 5–10 seconds, otherwise the system will not register the action and award neurons. Please let us know if the problem still persists.
