What is Menopause: Menopause is defined as the absence of period for 12 months and marks the end of the menstrual cycle in a woman.

Age: Usually occurs in your 40s or 50s. Before the age of 40, it is known as premature menopause.

What will happened: During the transition years before menopause occurs, which is also known as peri-menopausal phase; there is wide fluctuation of oestrogen levels which causes many symptoms in women.

Symptoms that many women often experience would include:

Physical symptoms:

Hot flashes
Night sweats
Vaginal dryness
Lack of energy
Weight gain
Dry, itchy skin
Joint and muscle pain
Low sexual desire

Psychological symptoms:
Trouble sleeping
Mood changes
Poor memory and concentration
Less interest in sexual activity

Any vaginal bleeding, even spotting, after menopause, which is known as post menopausal bleeding, has to be investigated by a doctor as sinister causes such as endometrial cancer have to be excluded.
