Meryl Streep (1949)

Streep is widely considered one of the most respected and talented film actors of all time. Famous for her mastery of a wide variety of accents, she has become legendary for the perfectionist approach she brings to each role. Streep has received more Academy Award nominations than any other actor in history and won two for her roles in Kramer vs. Kramer and Sophie's Choice. She is also tied with Jack Nicholson for most Golden Globe Award wins. What was Streep's first starring role? More...

I'll never forget her in Sophie's Choice & I loved her in Death Becomes Her.

The article has some inaccuracies about Lindy Chamberlain. She was originally a New Zealander, so the accent Streep used was not an Aussie accent, as any Aussie can tell you. To this day, yanks trying their painful best to do an Aussie accent end up doing Streep's Kiwi/Aussie hybrid accent.

Meryll Streep is probably the best actress ever but she failed in Mama Mia, upstaged by the music.

HAPYY US FOR YOUR BIRTHDAY!!

Meryl Streep broke into films in the 1970s with a role in the drama Julia (1977). The next year she appeared in The Deer Hunter opposite Robert De Niro and Christopher Walken, for which she earned her first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

This information is incorrect. She has won 3 (three) Academy Awards. There is no mention for her win in The Iron Lady. Tsk tsk tsk
