The article says ' it is likely the motive and perpetrator will never be known'.
Ya think?

I know good scientists never state absolutes, especially negatives. And more information may be learned in time from this and other remains. But I think ' unlikely' is a good bet!

But why assume it is murder? There are lots of reasons for multiple blows to the head (defence barristers are full of them). And if you know little about how these people lived and nothing about what they believed, the possibilities widen. I assume the bone never began to heal so you can't tell whether it is pre or post mortem?
Murder? A gladiatorial gameshow? A Morris dance while high on mushrooms? A ceremony to break the skull of a loved one to stop demon spirits inhabiting it?
I move to dismiss for lack of evidence of a murder!
