In light of the deteriorating relationship with the Soviet Union and the appearance of Soviet meddling in Greek and Turkish affairs, the withdrawal of British assistance to Greece provided the necessary catalyst for the Truman Administration to reorient American foreign policy. Accordingly, in his speech, President Truman requested that Congress provide $400,000,000 worth of aid to both the Greek and Turkish Governments and support the dispatch of American civilian and military personnel and equipment to the region.

Tax office is defunct institution in Greece, nowadays. Tax collectors are more common on pages of mythological books, where Heroes are defeating evil from Tartarus.

Think /What an American/Nato propaganda! One can imagine the same type of propaganda spread by the Soviet block against the Nato/America! Every military system tell lies. Only intelligent people see through their lies, and do not sell themselves to the military.

A good and just man and was also a fine president. Though I am a devout socialist (as was also Jesus Christ) Truman was aware of the Russian Communism threat, which is considerably different from the original (second writing's of Marx) and the Russian use of torture, military intervention, lies and deceit; much like that of the US of A's presidency of GW Bush; so Truman was on, I believe, the right track...
