(adjective) Tapering from a rounded base toward an apex.

Synonyms: lancelike

Usage: The bush had lanceolate leaves with sharp tips that could sting unwary passersby.

I'm a fan of Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur, I hear "lanceolate" & interpret it as "Lancelot".
I know Lancelot lanced a lot, but was his head lanceolate? Whistle
