Love is magical. It takes you into the unknown. New worlds. New Emotions. " I would say Family..is the principle means of escape from the loneliness which affects most men & ......their lives" . It is a luxury to come home to your family after a hard day. To a caring soul at the end of day. Even for a introvert who gets lonely only around the crowd, family works. :) . By all means get a family. :)

Love is something far more than desire for sexual intercourse; it is the principal means of escape from the loneliness which afflicts most men and women throughout the greater part of their lives.

There's loneliness of soul, there's loneliness of body… It's perfect when they suit each other.

I always thought that people who spend most of their time bitterly complaining about money worries and...relationship problems should spend a few months locked up, constantly under threat of being raped in the shower rooms or offending the wrong veterano and being shanked during lunch break.

It is not only love in the sense of human relationships, it is love for knowledge too.

Love is not a means of escape, love is a genuine human feeling of deep affection for anybody or anything.- Marriage or any other kind of human relationship might be a means of escape from loneliness but certainly not LOVE

Quote in context:
From [b"]Marriage and Morals"[/b]
Chapter 9 (pages 118-129):
“The Place of Love in Human Life”

Nature did not construct human beings to stand alone. . . . Those who have never known the deep intimacy and intense companionship of happy mutual love have missed the best thing that life has to give. Love is something far more than desire for sexual intercourse; it is the principal means of escape from loneliness which afflicts most men and women throughout the greater part of their lives. (Russell 1929, 122–123)

Loneliness is the ultimate destiny of each one of us. Love is there just to distract us from it.

I disagree with Mr. Russell, love just is and we seldom enter into it to escape loneliness.

Fredric, I am surprised and amused. Beneath all that political grumpiness, glass half empty and sometimes angry diatribes lies the heart of a poet. Well said.

Love is not a principal means of escape from anything, other than one's choler and bile; it can hardly signify if used as a means to get something,
when in fact it should be a result shared.
