A mortal could never create a perfect work. Even if he could it might be imperfect in the eyes of another human.

So as a perfect man cannot always to do a perfect work, so an imperfect man cannot always to do an imperfect work. You are, as always, perfect, darling!

From Federalist 85, Hamilton's concluding article promoting adoption of the U.S. Constitution by the voters of New York State.

Quote:
... I should esteem it the extreme of imprudence to prolong the precarious state of our national affairs, and to expose the Union to the jeopardy of successive experiments, in the chimerical pursuit of a perfect plan. I never expect to see a perfect work from imperfect man. The result of the deliberations of all collective bodies must necessarily be a compound, as well of the errors and prejudices, as of the good sense and wisdom, of the individuals of whom they are composed.

Whistle Mr. Hamilton did not say anything new... and I am not saying anything new: There is no perfect man or woman; consequently, fellow beings, there is no perfect work!!!!

Hamilton’s words were among the most influential of any American’s. Above all, there were the words of The Federalist, a series of eighty five essays written in 1787 and 1788 to build support for the Constitution just drafted in Philadelphia. James Madison and John Jay wrote some of these, but it was Hamilton who conceived the project, talked Madison and Jay into collaborating, arranged the publication, and wrote fifty-one of the essays himself. What Hamilton had to overcome, through The Federalist, was a deep-seated distrust of the proposed constitution’s strong central government

The Constitution might not be perfect, he conceded, but it was as good a plan as possible, and far better than the alternatives.
After all, wrote Hamilton in the last of The Federalist essays,
“I never expect to see a perfect work from imperfect man.”

We are all imperfect, so we need to be generous to accept the trivial faults of others.
