The rules are simple. Each person writes a sentence (any length) to continue on the story. Simple? Thought so.
I shall start.

Many eons ago, an intelligent species called the humans ruled the Earth.

It took a while but a sub species called Canadians finally got rid of them.

***STORY TERMINATED***

Let's try again, shall we? Applause

For thousands of years, Jim has been shut in a cryogenics chamber that would only awaken him when the humans were long gone; it was now almost time.

The special surveillance cameras carefully planted all over Terra hadn't registered any human activity for the previous 30 days.

I do not like bad ends, as well. So: the Canadians crushed whatever, wherever, whenever they saw. Australians helped them. A happy ending: LORD JIM rules USA, China, USSR, and all the other bits on earth. (EU is reversed, and now means United Emirates). From nor on, destination is Mars. First, we take Manhaaten. And so on. Princess loves her Frog at all circumstances; The Cat holds his Boots; Everybody loves Somebody, and Lara Croft maries Indiana Jones. Candidates to the freely elected galactic leadership: Hanuman, Saruman, and Anyman. The triumph of democracy. Select whichever sentence to continue the story. HAPPY END.

It took Jim about five Earth-days to wake up, to remember he was still alive and... not alone.

With a soft hiss, he gently slid out of the chamber, stretching his limbs and bones that have not been used for years.

Still a bit groggy, he looked down at his body, trying to remember what he looked like, and cursed the lack of a mirror in the room.

cursed the lack of a mirror in the room.

All of a sudden he remembered that there was a showcase in the lounge bar, so he ran there to look at himself.

As he went down the spiral staircase, he noticed fresh, tiny footprints in the thick dust that covered the steps.

tiny footprints in the thick dust that covered the steps.

The small size of those footprints induced him to a revelation: there was a woman at large!

A second later, Jim came to his senses and he realized that was just his fuzziness speaking, as it would have to be a truly petite woman to have such minuscule feet.

As he was slowly getting used with his direct environment, Jim could suddenly hear a moaning.

Then, as he cautiously entered the lounge and looked around, his eyes got bigger when he saw the pantry door open and tens of food cans and boxes scattered all over the floor.

Well, after all there had to be someone else hidden somewhere! Bad or good news?

"Time for reflection" thought Jim, kissing the air and wishing he could find that tiny woman.

With sudden determination, he decided to trace the tiny footsteps.
