Here's an idea, for all you music lovers...

We start with the name of a group, band, or ensemble. Then, name one of the members from it, and then finish by listing another band, group, or project that member has also worked with, at some point in their career.

The next player starts with the last band or group named, selects someone else from it and continues.
For example, I start with:

Frank Zappa/The Mothers

Now, from that group I select:

Aynsley Dunbar (drums)

And he went on to play with:

Journey

So that's one.
Now, to begin in earnest, here's my submission (I'll make it easy on you):

Journey - Neil Schon (guitar) - Hagar Schon Aaronson Shrieve

Have to bail on this one. Never heard of Hagar Schon etc. Is that a band or a law firm ?

I am with you on this one. I opt out also - on the basis that I play too many games on this site already!

Eric, I like the concept.

Neil Schon sure plays a mean guitar. Didn't know that he's an attorney too.

Neil came up under Carlos Santana prior to Journey and collaborated with Jan Hammer on an LP titled Untold Passion after Journey.

Bad English comes to mind but I don't remember any of the other members.

Steve Vai of Zappa fame played a short stint for David Lee Roth.

Other than what I've written here I'm completely stumped.

Well, I do like Steve Vai, and I've heard of Frank Zappa, but I would not know him if I heard him. Same with Carlos Santana - but I've never heard of all the names in between.

Sorry.

Night Ranger > Jack Blades (bass, vocals) > Damn Yankees

(one of the best resources for musical degrees of separation is pretty much any British musician.)

P.S. interesting concept for a game.

Thank you Alice! Applause
(ps - yeah, I thought the British thing would be too much of a gimme, but this connection can get us there)

As I understand the rules, as long as it's musically related it's acceptable. For myself, rather than try to find something obscure, I like to go for the more expansive so that the game doesn't get bogged down in potential dead-ends.

Yes indeed great music, this guy here arguably the best guitarist of his genre, but it is still hard to label what style he really is,certainly mostly Jazz.
