Pfifferdaj

An Alsatian festival of medieval origin, Pfifferdaj—also known as the Fiddlers' Festival—is celebrated in the city of Ribeauvillé, France. In the Middle Ages, the Ribeaupierre family started a musicians' union here, and every September the musicians of Alsace gathered to pay homage to the lord of Ribeaupierre by forming a procession to the church of Notre Dame du Dusenbach. It's a beautiful and picturesque city. I've never been there for the festival but often made excursions there across the Rhine during my university days. Oh well.

This sounds so much fun. the pic is beautiful. We don't have cities that old in Australia, I'd love to see a mediaeval village.

It's strange Aussies don't flock there - or is that what the locals live in fear of?

Sounds unsanitary! Who knows what's been in that fountain! Sick

Other than that, it sounds like a lovely party - all those fiddles! Boo hoo!

Ribeauville, France should be on someone's Bucket List. Since all of you sound busy, I'll add it to mine.

The free flowing wine itself should attract a crowd!
