Louis XIV brought France to its peak of absolute power and his words 'L'etat c'est moi' ('I am the state') express the spirit of a rule in which the king held all political authority. His absolutism brought him into conflict with the Huguenots and the papacy, with damaging repercussions.
It is exactly the opposite of "of the people, for the people and by the people", which is how the founding fathers of the US defined our government.http://www.hyperhistory.com/online_n2/people_n2/persons6_n2/louis.html

"...Louis XIV, ruled France for 72 years, longer than any other major European monarch. A strong believer in dictatorship by divine right, he viewed himself as God's representative on Earth and became the archetype of the absolute monarch...." And could this attitude also be attributed to the X-President G.W. Bush??? More lies, deaths, destruction and pedophile rapes have been committed by these, "self anointed" pseudo-Christian leaders, then by any other individuals with the exception of Hitler...
