felicitous means well-chosen and suitable

I have heard from some people that it is very challenging to use this word correctly.

When do you use it? How do you use it?

May I get some help with the word? Thanks a lot.

Hi Dennis.

I have never heard the word spoken (that's sixty years, mostly in England).

I have only seen it written in 'period' (deliberately old-fashioned) novels.
According to the n-gram viewer, it was mainly used during the nineteenth century, its use dropping off dramatically between 1900 and 1910.

Am I some kind of linguistic freak ? I've used both that word and its synonym ' Serendipitous ' within the last month at work.

Hmmm. Time for a re-think, or what ?

Methinks, mayhap, one might consider re-perusing one's vocabulary.

If you are a linguistic freak, so am I. I am pretty sure that I have used (in)felicitous in some of my posts in various forums. No one has commented on my choice of words.
