J.K. Rowling (1965)Joanne Kathleen Rowling is the author of the Harry Potter book series, which has been credited with sparking an interest in reading at a time when children were thought to be abandoning books. She parlayed the series into a global brand, including the popular movie adaptations, worth an estimated $15 billion. All seven volumes of the series have broken sales records, and the last four have been the fastest-selling books in history. Where was Rowling when she first conceived the story? More...

Alenka wrote:I really don't understand the phenomenon of her books It did not depend on J. K. Rowling. It depended on those who made her and her books famous. Some people stood behind it. And it's not only about huge money these books and movies created. Many people are aware that it's a direct attack on Bible and its values. Magic is condemned in Bible very clearly but so called Christian world accepted these books willingly. Children are not able to think clearly like adults. But they behaved like being in trance. It it their fault? Yes, it's a phenomenon but not difficult to explain. The Harry Potter phenomenon

We can learn something from her life experience. I admire her for all that she has gone through in her life. There is always light at the end of the tunnel. I wish I could have such imagination as she has in her writing.

I never read her books and I am not interested in the movies also. But it is like the MacDonald fastfood shop, their food taste like plastic to me. People go to MacDonald, because their kids like the happy meal.

I think her stories are an inspiration to anybody who's wanted to believe in magic [all kinds of magic]. What amazing characters she has created, and so complex. Happy Birthday, J.K.!

Gryffindore house colours are the same as mine were.
Mind you, there were fewer basilisks in our school basement.
