Obsidian

Obsidian is a very shiny volcanic glass that is sometimes used as a semiprecious stone. Though it is formed by the rapid cooling of viscous lava, obsidian is only slightly harder than window glass. It is typically jet black, but the presence of hematite produces red and brown varieties, and tiny gas bubbles may create a golden sheen. Obsidian was used by Native Americans for weapons, implements, tools, and ornaments and by the ancient Aztecs and Greeks for mirrors. What is snowflake obsidian? More...

"used by the Aztecs and Greeks for mirrors," the article read. This artifact is also called a "dark mirror"

"Magic mirror: The black scrying mirror, or magic mirror, is a powerful psychic tool. It can bring the user hidden knowledge and clairvoyant ability and can act as a portal to other planes of existence. Scrying can be defined as the art of gazing into or upon a crystal or dark mirror, allowing the physical eyes to relax and letting the inner psychic eyes begin to open and receive desired visions or information."

Sympathetic magic makes use of the black mirror to turn the eye inward and encourage the mind to wander to and fro at the speed of thought, facilitating visions and causing a dream state to pervade consciousness; the madness of the prophet.

"The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophesy"
"There is a spirit in man and the inspiration of the
Almighty give understanding."
Yet we must always remember that "God is a spirit and must be worshipped in spirit and in truth."

'the Obsidian mirror, or "the black mirror," is only one of the tools of self-fulfillment, removing the stumbling blocks present with the psychic transformations of the process of individuation.
As for the madness of the prophet in these times the scriptures say:

"the spiritual man is mad for the multitude of thine iniquities and the great hate" (of those that hate God)

In some stones, the inclusion of small, white, radially clustered crystals of cristobalite in the black glass produce a blotchy or snowflake pattern (snowflake obsydian)

It is very calming and soothing as it helps to release negative thinking and stressful mental patterns. As a stone of movement, it helps to provide balance in times of change, and is especially useful in travel for protection and safety. Snowflake Obsidian promotes inner centering, aids in peaceful meditation, and can turn isolation and loneliness into empowering introspection and adventure.
Also great for vascular, skeletal, and digestive systems.
