Janet Leigh (1927)

Leigh was "discovered" by actress Norma Shearer, whose late husband, Irving Thalberg, had been a senior executive at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM). Though inexperienced, Leigh secured a contract with MGM, left college—where she had been studying music and psychology—and went on to appear in dozens of films. She is perhaps best known for her performance in Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 film Psycho, which earned her a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination. What famous actress is Leigh's daughter? More...

Ms. Leigh found out the hard way that the Bates Motel room service staff are a bit on edge.

Why do we write and care so much about actors instead of writers, philosophers and scientists? Actors are just actors, film directors are much more important than them. That tabloids do this is understandable as they cater to idiots but why Free Dictionary follows. America, stop worshiping money and good looks. This is so shallow!!!!!

Leigh's daughter is Jamie Lee Curtis
"She continued to appear occasionally in films and television, including The Manchurian Candidate (1962) and two films with her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis: The Fog (1980) and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later (1998)."

Happy Birthday, Ms. Leigh.

I have read that actors have nothing to be ashamed of.

You entertain us for a few hours and take us away from the humdrum -- and terror -- of daily life.

Acting definitely deserves our respect -- and gratitude.

Her face always reminds me of Ms. Crane from Psycho. The scene where Norman Bates tells her: “You eat like a bird, Ms. Crane”, with all those stuffed birds around, is very ominous.

Curious as to why Jamie Lee Curtis didn't spell her middle name like her mothers Leigh...
