Love Poses Hazard on Paris Bridge

Paris is widely regarded as the romance capital of the world, and perhaps nowhere is this more apparent than its Pont des Arts footbridge spanning the Seine. The bridge has, in recent years, become a pilgrimage site for couples from all over the world, who have taken to leaving padlocks inscribed with their initials on the bridge's fencing and tossing away the keys into the waters below to symbolize their enduring love for one another. Romantic as the gesture is, it has also proved to be quite destructive. Recently, a metal grill laden with "love locks" collapsed onto the bridge's walkway. No one was hurt, but the incident highlights the danger of this seemingly innocuous practice. More...

Funny how people need these kinds of things.
Love is a decision made with great deals of your heart, mind, body and soul.
How can you shackle love?
I thought love was supposed to be strong and free from any bondage.

PS_

I thought Venice was the romantic capital of the world, not Paris.
I think spending time together in Venice is far more romantic (and perhaps more expensive).
Anyway, I prefer Venice.

Foolish people do foolish things. There are many better ways to express love. A simple kiss will do.

It is a wonderful spot on the river. The bridge fills up nightly with romantic couples in search of the perfect way to solidify their love. There is wine, and cheese and music and the air is filled with love. Everyone is sitting on blankets and having a wonderful time watch the boats, and people. When the time is right, lovers stand in a ritualistic ceremony in which the commit to each other and then lock the pad lock to the bridge fencing and toss the key into to the river. The lock is never to be opened again... My wife and I also took part in our ceremony on the bridge and our love has never weakened. It was an evening of wonderful memories. Put. It on your bucket list.
