1- I know him for 5 years.
2- I have known him for 5 years.

Kindly explain the correct option.

The 2nd one is correct. "I have known him for 5 years."

The 1st one "I know him for 5 years"--NO! "I know him" means NOW. It does not reach into the past, as the 2nd one does.

Another short version you might like is: "I knew him for 5 years." But this would imply that you no longer know him--either he has moved away, or he passed away.

"I have known him" implies that you knew him, but you still continue to know him.

The action started 5 years ago and still available till now that is why we use the present perfect tense for that .

'For five years' is a length of time, so it must have started in the past. You obviously want it to continue up to the present, so you need the present perfect.
