Perhaps Daemon has contracted a spelling or grammar virus. The quote is as follows:
A tart temper never mellows with age, and a sharp tongue is the only edged tool that grows keener with constant use.
Washington Irving
You're welcome.

Words have power, the tongue is like a two edged sword, it can speak words that cut with malice or heal by lancing an infected wound. It is easy to speak the former out of prejudicial spite while the latter appeals to a compassionate heart.

Daemon wrote:A sharp tongue is the only edge tool that grows keener with constant use. Washington Irving (1783-1859) From "Rip Van Winkle" comes this keen observation: "" Times grew worse and worse with Rip Van Winkle as years of matrimony rolled on; a tart temper never mellows with age, and a sharp tongue is the only edged tool that grows keener with constant use."" In defense of Daemon's version, most quotation sites spelled it "edge tool". Either way, it's the constant use that makes the sharp tongue keener, as it makes the brain.
