Anti-Social App Aims to Prevent Awkward Meetings

Do you dread the idea of accidentally running into an ex? Well, rest easy; there's an app out there for you. Cloak is just one of a growing number of "anti-social" apps hitting marketplaces. It gathers public location information from other social networking services and alerts users when people they have flagged for avoidance are nearby. They can then take evasive action as necessary! That's not so much anti-social as it is "expanding the berth of your stalking."

Maybe Facebook is just too boring, for I have noticed of late, I seldom visit it anymore.

So we are entering the age of secrecy and the more power to it. Snowden, a modern day hero, has certainly alerted us to the need. As for avoiding one’s ex, I don’t feel that need at all. I always enjoy meeting those I know, even if it is just for a fleeting hello.

Actually I don't dread the idea of accidentally running into an ex what I really dread more is the idea of someone avoiding me!!!

Not a positive development in my view.

I agree with Green Banana in that the app will give more strength to the stalker.

Also, how does this increase privacy? People can see where I am if I have my phone on me!

I'm on the side of everyone here that views this as a societal negative.

It will not work unless the other person is also on a mutual social network.
