Mario Vargas Llosa (1936)

Vargas Llosa is a Peruvian writer and politician. His novels paint a portrait of Peruvian society that is both severe and tender. I've always been a fan. Always a good read with facts about a culture that I don't know but grew to like.

I find Mario Varges LLosa's political move from the left to the right as inexplicable since he clearly read the polictical disaster of Mexico as "Mexico is the perfect dictatorship". He run for president of Peru under the banner of neoliberalism, a failed policy everywhere. Even a great novelist and essayist can fall fool to chimera propagated by an 1% who will be the sole benefiter from neoliberalism

Had vaguely heard of the writer. Just read his bio from TFD. A fairly ordinary life but seems unusually sensitive. Will read him.
Feliz cumpleaños, Senor Llosa
