Rolls-Royce Limited Is Founded (1906)

In 1904, engineer Frederick Henry Royce made his first car and was introduced to Charles Stewart Rolls, who owned a car dealership. The pair agreed to a deal in which Royce would manufacture cars to be sold by Rolls. They decided that the cars would be called "Rolls-Royce," and their British luxury car company was born. Though their "Silver Ghost" model brought early fame, World War I temporarily eliminated demand for luxury cars. What did Rolls-Royce do in order to stay in business? More...

When the war broke out cars especially luxury vehicles such as RR,they started manufacturing motors for Her Majestys Royal Air Force and using them in their planes. After the war RR motors were put in Aston Martins and a few other race cars because of there power and reliability.RR motors were also used in American fighters such as the P-51 Mustang and other allied fighters and were thought to be the main reason the Germans were defeated in The Battle of Britain.

I once read that Her Majesty's Roll-Royce once broke down in traffic.

Since it was a Rolls-Royce, however, it was reported that it "failed to proceed."

A Rolls is a driver's car but a Bentley is a car to be driven. I love Rolls-Royce, so beautiful and regal!

I wonder what the gas mileage is on the Rolls?

When little Prince William was six years old he was given a free Rolls. I wonder if the rich every pay for anything.
