The football referred to here would, of course, have to be Rugby.Whistle

If it's so why football became more important, relevant than philosophy and morality? Maybe an animal gradually take over human race.

Prescient indeed! Unfortunately the first of Tony Blair's academies (essentially private schools funded by the public!)failed its inspection and was put into special measures by the regulators Ofsted. Oh and you can still get into Oxbridge if you row well enough.

Football does seem to draw the money these places are after. Big business, many injuries.

Is this quote from American or British perspective. I believe football "is" two different sports depending on your reference and both have academies.

Bierce's squib: "Academy: A modern school where football is taught" is my first genuine and spontaneous laugh of the day. In the article I read that toward the end of his short life he fell into disillusionment and sadness before he disappeared completely from his digs in California. He went to Mexico and wasn't heard from again. No one knows what happened to him. As for his sadness and disillusionment, the world was about to enter the bloodiest war to date. Any thinking and feeling person could easily lose hope when the people at the top plunge us yet again in their fun and games.

---

Lyceum:

(Placename) a school and sports ground of ancient Athens: site of Aristotle's discussions with his pupils.

An organization sponsoring public programs and entertainment.

Biggest Finance Capital engineered school (what to think; believe authority declarative statements as though they were natural law) as a counterfeit to mind liberating education (how to think; ask substantial questions, do substantial research and get substantial answers that, inevitable, reveal the "authority" as a bunch of criminals.

The Trivium Method of cognitive liberation was replaced with the Prussian programming model.

Search "John Taylor Gatto" for the scoop on that process. His book, "The Underground History of American Education" is free online.

Trivium Binder, TriviumEducation.com and School Sucks Podcast also tend to be good resources.

Of course, this entire process wasn't completed at the time of this quote. But, apparently, it was underway to some degree.
