Fiesta de los Vaqueros

This weeklong event in Tucson, Arizona, features the "world's longest non-motorized parade" and the largest outdoor midwinter rodeo in the United States. The fiesta starts with the parade—a two-mile-long procession of more than 200 entries, including old horse-drawn vehicles such as buckboards, surreys, and Conestoga wagons. The eight days of rodeo include the standard events, as well as daily Mutton Bustin' contests. In these, four- to six-year-olds test their riding skills on sheep. I agree with Curmudgeonine's comment that rodeos are just a site of ‘sanctioned animal cruelty’ served up to a crude and cruel public. I wonder if the women in that Quadrille de Mujeres have to be carrying identification sewed on their outfits as in Nazi Germany where one had to carry one's "papers" at all times and Jews had to sew on the Star of David on their clothes. Wild Caucasian ponies couldn't drag me into that racist state of Arizona where the likes of Sheriff Aparo and Governor Jan Brewer can do whatever they please, no matter how morally suspect or outright criminal, yet at the same time hold people of color to a close scrutiny and to account.

I don't understand why this website advertises this cruel practice.
Rodeo == American Shame
