Vinegrower's Day

This pre-harvest vineyard festival in Bulgaria involves pruning the vines and sprinkling them with wine. Ritual songs and dances are performed in hopes of a plentiful grape harvest. In some areas, a "Vine King" is crowned with a wreath of twigs from the vineyards. Everyone treats him with great respect, for it is believed that fertility depends on the King's happiness. Visits to well-known Bulgarian vineyards are organized, the vines are pruned, and guests are given an opportunity to sample the local wine and foods. More...

I wonder why our friends who create this daily forum choose the Vinegrower's Day as their tribute to Valentine's Day. Is wine part of the roses and hearts cards of Valentine's Day? I hope all of those who entries I look forward to reading have both received and have given a token of love today.

I invite you to know Canela. It is a town located in the Serra Gaúcha of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Gramado is another interesting place to drink wine.
