I guess it depends on what it is that you love. I'm sure Agatha Christie is referring to something like family or the love of your life or your dream career, but the quote can really be applied to anything.

For example, I love tea, and while you can get crappy tea for free some places, you always have to shell out a good bit of cash for high-quality, delicious tea. :)

Agatha Christie is flat out right. I can't think of anything I love that is truly free(other than air).
