Dame Iris Murdoch (1919)

An Irish-born novelist and philosopher, Murdoch studied at Cambridge under prominent philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein before pursuing a career in writing. Her novels focus on the idea that free will is illusory and depict humans as "accidental" creatures, seemingly free but actually bound to self, society, and the natural world. LOL, yea Christine, that would seem to be a more notable choice; however, I do not think the algorithm that is Daemon, even rises to the level of artificial intelligence, let alone be able to make value judgments. Personally I appreciate that you commented, as I do not usually check this area, and would probably never have heard of this woman otherwise.

Don't tell anyone but Daemon is actually the spirit of Maxwell, inhabiting the Farlex mainframe.

Very interesting lady - you don't hear of many female philosophers. Don't know if that is purely due the the preconceived idea that "women don't do that sort of thing", or if it really is that, somehow, women tend to be a little more practical due to the social upbringing.
