pedro,

Thanks for an interesting Rorschach of our times. A welcome respite for my mind.

Damage to the South Ferry station of the No. 1 subway line, in lower Manhattan, after Superstorm Sandy passed through New York City.
Floodwaters that poured into New York's deepest subway tunnels may pose the biggest obstacle to the city's recovery
from the worst natural disaster in the transit system's 108-year history.

The Schwebebahn suspended monorail in Wuppertal, Germany, not far from Cologne, still trots out Emperor Wilhelm's Kaiserwagen, built in 1900, for special occasions and tourist charters. It's not in daily service though.

At last! Some art in a BART station. It's not easy to find...

Downtown Berkeley station

Well, there is this, and while it's in a station that I used to frequent (Embarcadero Station), I don't recall ever noticing it.
P.S. It's macrame, of all things, and it's supposed to be orange. Apparently, the artist has a cow every time they talk about taking it down. It's been there for 40 years.

Oakland Int'l Airport BART Station (never been there, so I couldn't have seen it)

San Francisco Int'l Airport BART Station (been there, never noticed it)
It's like a bunch of big sequins, designed to move with the wind.
In time, it will likely go the way of the macrame thing, which was supposed to do the same thing.
Not only is there very little art at BART stations, what is there is not well thought out. I give up.
