Very true (except for skydiving, or tightrope walking over Niagara falls. Then not trying may be better than failing!

If I may quote (or paraphrase) Shiv's (?) signature quotation

A man may fail many times but he is not a failure until he starts blaming somebody else.

and of course it counts for women too, LM!!

Except of course, before equal rights were granted and until all subtle forms of discrimination are eradicated. But yes, women and anyone who refuse to accept injustices and rise above the odds bringing liberty to all behind them don't typically blame the culprit. They just deal with it, and soon it becomes a cause, so that the effect no longer harms the innocent.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving may not be the hobby for you.

Usually you can learn more from your failures than you can from your successes.

Never let the dog drive, no matter how sober he says he is.

Ex,

You have obviously never seen how poorly my cat drives, else you'd trust the dog more!

I hear ya, H. Cats are just the worst drivers. Always using the rear view for grooming, staring off into space, clawing the fine Corinthian leather...

Yes sirriee, and taking their cute little paws off the wheel (always at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock mind you) to bat at those fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror...
