If you desire to drain to the dregs the fullest cup of scorn and hatred that a fellow human being can pour out for you, let a young mother hear you call dear baby "it." Jerome K. Jerome (1859-1927)

A favorite episode of "Seinfeld" leaps instantly to mind:
"The Hamptons":
Along with Kramer poaching lobster traps, and George's girlfriend sunbathing in the nude, and George being seen naked after a chilly dip in the pool (I was in the pool, I was in the pool!!!)...and fearing that women don't know about "shrinkage"...
and yada yada,
The reason for the trip was to see their friends' new baby..."Isn't he gorgeous...I ask you....how gorgeous is he??!!".
Of course, the kid is hideous (you never see him), but Kramers impolitic reaction tells you all you need to know.
As they say, it's a "Must lie" situation....so no...
Never ever call the baby an "it".

Most certainly, true! However, my hubby and I called our twins "This one" and "That one" for most of their first year.

" He's breathtaking ". Kramer's reaction is one of the all-time greats, second only to his reaction when he realises he's carrying ' Little Jerry Seinfeld ' upside down.
