What is 'game changer'?
Investopedia explains 'Game Changer' 1. A game changer has new and different ideas that stand out from the crowd. This person has an idea that completely changes the way a situation develops. Companies employ this tactic to create ideas or events that change the outcome of a plan.
2. A visionary strategist uses creative innovation to alter their business plans, or conceives an entirely new plan by exploring new locations and different products.

As well as a person, I think that a game changer can also be an event that alters the outcome of a game (originally). The term can also be applied to any area besides games, such as business or politics.
For example, in sports if a star player on a team is injured during a game, that injury could be a "game changer" because the team will no longer be able to excel without the injured player and may then go on to lose.

And finding out that it was just rumor and gossip in the form of 'cock or twat blocking' is a game changer too. People could get hurt by such, one way or another. Subsequent retribution can be serious too, some have been dipped in acid feet first while suspended in strapado, others have had their tongues removed and faces disfigured (that's a game changer too). Think it will never happen to you? Think again...
