Question: Is this sentence correct?

No, not really. You may say he is a genius, or a physicist, but as it is worded, it conveys the idea that he is a physicist who has created a genius in himself.

Thanks, FounDit. The following example motivated me to start this thread:

a genius of a pilot
Random House Kernerman Webster's College Dictionary

People do say it this way, and they mean that the person is a genius at their profession, but it really isn't good English, IMO.

This doesn't mean she is actually a peach, of course, but is simply someone's opinion of her personality, a metaphor and an idiom.

a peach of a — a particularly excellent or desirable thing of the kind specified. informal
Peach has been used since the mid 18th century as a colloquial term for an attractive young woman and more generally since the mid 19th century for anything of exceptional quality.

Question: Is this sentence correct?
-----------------------------------------

a genius of physics or a genius physicist

a physics genius – could be a youngster who’s really quick to grasp the subject

a physical genius – not really has anything to do with physics (BUT a mathematical genius = a genius mathematician)
