He is very anxious about his son's loss of memory.

What does the above mean? Has the son already lost his memory or is he about to do so?

His son definitely has lost his memory and that is worrying him.

We can't really tell without context. If he is aware that his son has already lost his memory, then he could be anxious about that.

But if his son were in the hospital and a doctor has told him his son MAY suffer memory loss caused by some illness or accident, then we can't know yet if the memory loss is real. He could then be anxious about some future possibility.
