"main" student body Options

I have made up the example below.

(1) Jack is very shy and doesn't feel comfortable being with other pupils. His parents and teachers are trying very hard to encourage him to become part of the main student body.

Do you need the word, main, in "main student body"? Thank you.

Jack is a member of the student body simply by being a student at the school. Omitting "main" doesn't solve your problem, IMO.
