While I'm a great fan of Ice-Hockey (they are playing U18 games right now in Texas), and football, and pétanque, I'm looking now the final game of snooker world champs between Murphy and Selby. What a joy. We also have an excellent commentator in Finnish TV.

With some snacks and beer, what else can an elderly man demand for Sunday afternoon?

They will continue the match later this evening, and tomorrow.

When the snooker overruns, everything else on BBC2 gets pushed aside for the hushed tones of the snooker commentators. Goes on half the night sometimes!

Still trying to be a gentlemanly game where players call fouls on themselves if the referee didn't see (such as making contact with a ball they are leaning over) but it has started to attract big betting money, especially from China, and there have been a few fixing scandals. Still nice to watch, though. Skilful but calm and serene. Very zen.

Yes, I remember the Higgins episode in Kiev. Fine sports, anyway, and great pleasure to watch, even half of the night ;-)

Not just BBC, BBC4 also covers the snooker for the time BBC2 doesn't, and that's even worse for overrunning, don't bother programming your TV box to record any programs, it will be be futile!

Now it continues. 5-3 to Murphy. Nine frames left tonight. The winner has to take 18 frames.

Snooker, reminds me of the hushed tones of Ted Lowe.
“For those of you watching in black and white, the pink is next to the green”.
“Fred Davis is getting on a bit and is having trouble getting his leg over”.

The third session starts soon, Selby leading by 10-7. On the last five frames last night Selby was just brilliant. There was almost one hour period Murphy didn't put one ball in the pouch.

Eighteen-fifteen to Selby, his fourth championship. Both players were amazing.
Snookers is some sports.

Now to the U18 Ice-Hockey. Quarter final Finland against Switzerland.

I understand that team Switzerland put out is from their navy. The Snooker WC is conspicuous by it's absence here in the USA

I can imagine people in Texas don't follow Eurosport very much ;-)

In the spirit of the World Cup, I think it should be in the shape of the continents of Africa and Eurasia.
I don't know how you would fit in the Canadians or Australians - maybe you have to do a trick shot to bounce over to those bits.

To clear up you have to not only jump between the tables but navigate the narrow entrance to Africa. Or should jumping there be legal? And you have to include Malta. And Hong Kong. This could get complicated. Think

Obviously nothing like this, because USAians can't play snooker. And I don't know of any South Americans? Whistle

Well, there are L and Y-shaped ones . . .

Then, if you're hungry, there are the banana and doughnut ones.

And one to be used at a wake.

I think I'll stay on our regular 4x20 metre square pétanque terrain.
