My dog's name is Spot. Can I use "who" with it?

I am talking about Spot who is a member of our family.

Yes. A pet is treated like a person.

'Which' would be wrong after a name anyway.

What if it wasn't a name?

I am talking about the dog who is the member of our family.

If it is being treated as a member of the family, it is a who or a that, not a which.

People and pets are the same category.
