In Russian "details" can mean "parts" like those of a car. Can details mean the same in English?

It is not normal to use "details" to refer to physical objects. However, if the parts are thought of in a more abstract sense, as aspects of the whole, then "details" may be used, e.g:

The two cars differ in certain details; each one has some features that the other one lacks.
