Hi,

I am wondering which preposition to use in the following sentence:

It now transpires that he kept all the money for/to himself.

I'd appreciate your help.

You would normally use "he kept the money for himself" in this sentence. If it were a secret rather than money, you would want to say "He kept the secret to himself" [and didn't tell anyone else].
