One can crosscheck a translation using Google Translate backward. When I input the Chinese sentence into Google, the English translation is:
Mother received a photo of a former believer who had immigrated to the United States from two Americans
It's acceptable in general. But also notice the differences:
Disciple vs. believer: when I only translate the word "disciple", 徒弟 might be a better choice unless a disciple of a certain religion is indicated.
Left for vs. immigrated to: the disciple might not be an immigrant. A non-specific option can be 前往, which can be obtained by only translating "leave for".
Allow me to rearrange things a little:
母亲从两名美国人收到前往美国的一位前徒弟的照片
I believe there are more creative methods of using Google.

Thank you , that's quite interesting 徒弟 seems quite appropriate , goes well with 师傅
for sake of clarity , when "Mother" receives the Pictures , the former disciple has already emigrated to
the US and is living there permanently
