I guess it's too much to ask of someone to let go of the past and join the present. They might actually enjoy life just a bit.

That's not little donny's America. little donny violated the fair housing laws by refusing to rent apartments to African Americans. little donny skirted criminal prosecution by paying out a settlement. In little donny's America, you can buy your way out of anything.

Trump Administration Guts Fair Housing Protections

NFHA Condemns Harmful Blow to Civil Rights Protections

Washington, D.C. — Today, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) finalized its harmful “disparate impact” rule, which will gut civil rights protections for vulnerable communities and make it exceedingly harder to challenge systemic racism by housing providers, financial institutions, and insurance companies that deprive people of the services and opportunities they need.

Disparate impact is a longstanding legal tool to fight discrimination and ensure equal housing opportunity under the Fair Housing Act. In a disparate impact case, a person can challenge unjustified policies or practices that harm people and treat them unfairly. The Trump administration’s final rule severely weakens this civil rights tool making it harder to tackle and root out systemic discrimination.

“At its core, this rule promotes gerrymandering, redlining, and segregation, three historically racist and discriminatory practices. And the final rule by HUD is even more damaging than we previously thought,” said Lisa Rice, president and CEO of the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA). “In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the ensuing economic crisis, and as our nation confronts the racism that has plagued us since our founding, the Trump administration is making the heartless and ruthless decision to strip civil rights protections from people who need it most. NFHA is going to use every available tool, including legal action, to fight this rule and defend vulnerable communities.”

Not at all. We have absolutely no problem with looking at the past. That's why I say we SHOULD study the past to learn from it, not destroy our present or future because of the mistakes made in it.

That's the goal of the Socialist/Communist Democrats who can't let go of the past, thinking the country needs to be destroyed and remade in their image because of sins of the past. I don't think we'll allow that to happen.

Honestly Hope, I didn't think this would happen. Biden played chess with the pigeon and knew when to back off and let the bird sh*t all over the chessboard without getting it on himself. And he won.

Yep - of course we are all slavering to live our lives in a present where, unless you are white, male, and American you were born inferior - and nothing you ever do, in the entire span of your lifetime, will change that. A very strange concept when Trump's slogan is “Make America Great AGAIN. Going back to the past. Wanting the pendulum to swing back, was I believe the term used on this Forum.

Embrace change. Live in the present. Not past or future.

As for the Socialist/Communist Democrats crack - After all the posts by Drago explaining the definitions of the various types of governments such as communist or socialist!

Also, I believe the pictures of Trump's America and Biden's America got mixed up. Or somebody thinks Biden is already president because that photo of violence is what is happening NOW.

In one of his recent speeches, Donald Trump vowed to fix the country's problems. Apparently whoever is president now is doing a shitty job.

Having Trump run as “The Law and Order Candidate” makes as much sense as him running as “The Family Values Candidate”, “The Empathy Candidate”, or “The Physical Fitness Candidate”

There is something very unbrilliant, indeed ominously dangerous, in the inability of the American public and even the American media to remember crimes and scandals that they witnessed in every last detail as they happened. They saw it all happen! The president not only told everybody at the time—he bragged about it at the time. They are surprised when books are written to remind them (Woodward's for example) only because they forgot what they themselves witnessed.

I wish Donald and Melania a speedy recovery - he needs to come back to answer for what he's done.

Biden just said what a large percentage of humanity has been wanting to say for four years. Somebody finally had the courage to say it to him. Staffers say this is just their usual day at the WH as he acts like that all the time. I believe it as I see how rude he is to journalists every day.

Now that's just silly. That's an example of a failed public education. You might as well say the Earth's flat. Every high school biology student learns that spermatozoa have tails and swim.

Quote:
"Even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that is something God intended to happen."
- Richard Mourdock (R-IN)

Great! That's the justification every rapist needs, "God made me do it!"

That wasn't my post, and represents one of those things said in the past that we can learn from. Politicians (and people of all stripes) constantly say silly things/stupid things. Do you write off every person who does that? What about when you do it?

"Lie back and enjoy it"!! The very phrase which started off a backlash way back in the '70's. The phrase which brought people to their feet. The phrase which signalled man's inhumanity to woman! Voiced in the present!
What's your definition of the present? This was not said in present day. It was 30 years ago, and it was said as a joke - a joke in poor taste to be sure, but a joke nevertheless, just as it was when your own Tory MP, Barbara Driver, said the same thing in 2014.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2603591/Tory-councillor-sparks-outrage-saying-rape-inevitable-just-lie-enjoy-public-meeting.html

What person, in any contemporary first world country in the world, could honestly imagine ANY person in their present being able to still hang on to their job, go on being accepted in the community, or be able to look people in the eye after regurgitating the above filth by those 6 animals? Because the rest of society left that trash way back in their collective pasts.
No one would be able to hold on after saying that. Barbara Driver resigned and Clayton Williams lost the election and was shamed out of public service. But you say it was in the past, yet here it is being dredged up again by someone on the political Left, just as I've said. Can't leave the past in the past. But if you did, you would loose all of your favorite talking points: racism/misogyny/white supremacy/xenophobia/etc.

Yep - of course we are all slavering to live our lives in a present where, unless you are white, male, and American you were born inferior - and nothing you ever do, in the entire span of your lifetime, will change that. (And by god, if you try, The Proud Thugs will be proudly sent over by the President to keep Law & Order!!Dancing )
Pure poppycock! The American people left racism behind 60 years ago as we progressed from the Civil Rights Act, to Martin Luther King, and to the election of the first Black President of the U.S. That couldn't have happened without the votes of the majority of White people. Only the Socialists/Communists Democrats want to hold on to the past and use it as a cudgel and wedge to divide us. That's why they can't turn loose of it, nor any of the sins of the past. It's the only weapon they have to divide us with.

Yep. That's it, you've certainly won over hearts and minds with that astonishingly thought-out invitation, FD. Good on you, mate.
Thank you. I try. It would help it you did too.

Has anyone else noticed that, when conservative run out of constructive ideas, they revert to old "reds in the bed" and other Joseph McCarthy type beliefs, Socialism is not communism. Our education system and military are both "socialized" insofar as they are funded by government from taxes received. Terms like "radical left" and Antifa are used as verbal weapons with no real basis in reality. If there were no white supremacists, there would be know Antifa! I'm just saying!

60 years ago would be 1960. Let's see:

In 1967, 17 Southern states (all the former slave states plus West Virginia plus Oklahoma) still enforced laws prohibiting marriage between whites and non-whites. Maryland repealed its law at the start of Loving v. Virginia in the Supreme Court.

After the Supreme Court ruling declaring such laws to be unconstitutional, the laws in the remaining 16 states ceased to be enforceable. Besides removing such laws from their statute books, a number of state constitutions were also amended to remove language prohibiting miscegenation: Mississippi in 1987, South Carolina in 1998 and Alabama in 2000. In the respective referendums, 52% of voters in Mississippi, 62% of voters in South Carolina and 59% of voters in Alabama voted in favour of the amendments. In Alabama nearly 526,000 people voted against the amendment, including a majority of voters in some rural counties.

In 2009, Keith Bardwell, a justice of the peace in Robert, Louisiana, refused to officiate a civil wedding for an interracial couple. A nearby justice of the peace, on Bardwell's referral, officiated the wedding; the interracial couple sued Keith Bardwell and his wife Beth Bardwell in federal court. After facing wide criticism for his actions, including from Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, Bardwell resigned on November 3, 2009.

As of September 9, 2019, eight states still required couples to declare their racial background when applying for a marriage license, without which they cannot marry. The states are Connecticut, Delaware, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota (since 1977), Virginia, New Hampshire and Alabama. At that date, the Virginia law was challenged in court.Within a week the state’s Attorney-General directed that the question is to become optional, and in October 2019, a U.S. District judge ruled the practice unconstitutional and barred Virginia from enforcing the requirement.

In 2016, Mississippi passed a law to protect "sincerely held religious beliefs or moral convictions". In September 2019, an owner of a wedding venue in Mississippi refused to allow a mixed race wedding to take place in the venue, claiming the refusal was based on her Christian beliefs. After an outcry on social media and after consulting with her pastor, the owner apologised to the couple.

towan hit it on the head about Antifa. It's hilarious that a group literally called Anti Fascism could be vilified because it is "gasp" anti-fascist.

FounDit is living proof that at least one American person did not leave racism behind 60 years ago. In this thread, he has has:

- Claimed African Americans behave more lawlessly.
- Claimed that 'being punched in the face by a Belgian' is equivalent to suffering through a history of slavery and systemic racism. (Lack of empathy often displayed by racists.)
- Claimed that because an organization mentions race, they're racist. Yet he mentions race but doesn't think of himself as racist. (Cognitive dissonance often displayed by racists.)
- Made up his own definition of racism.
- Cited a rich/successful African American as a reason why systemic racism doesn't exist.
- Insisted on black-on-black crime to distract from the topic at hand.

It should be obvious that the memes are jokes, but you'd have to have a sense of humor to understand that.
