The California Highway Patrol selected the Oldsmobile Delmont 88 as its 1967 Enforcement-class police vehicle. This broke the long streak of CHP Dodge and Chrysler police cars, dating back to 1956. In addition to police-package Oldsmobile Delmont 88 with three engines: the 250-, 260-, and 320-horsepower, 330-ci V-8; the 350-horsepower, 400-ci V-8; and the 300-, 310-, 365-, and 375-horespower, 425-ci V-8. A dual-exhaust, 10-5-to-1 compression, 375-horespower 'Police Apprehender' version was available.
