So anyone who follows sports knows of "Babe" Ruth, "Magic" Johnson and "Charlie Hustle" as in Pete Rose.

What are some of the great nicknames in any field?

Along these lines, it's interesting to learn about and compare diminutive suffixes in different languages that are added as parts of nicknames. An immediate example is my name in this forum, which includes the "-chan" diminutive from Japanese. It's an endearing term used when you know someone well, and is usually applied to children and women.
When my husband and I lived in Japan, a family befriended him. They are great people and are still friends now, but he hated it when they called him "Danchan." (His name is Dan.) I guess he thought it insulted his masculinity....Silenced

More recently, we've got the Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy, Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs, Sean Combs evolution (though I probably don't have the names in chronological order).

There's Prince, The Artist Formerly Known as Prince, and his symbol, which I can't replicate in this forum.

Vanilla Ice, Ice-T, Notorious B.I.G./Biggy, LL Cool J, 2Pac

Snoop Dog, Dr. Dre, Eminem/Slim Shady, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z

Lil Kim, Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah, Foxy Brown, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas, Da Brat

Maurice "The Rocket" Richard was a Hall Of Fame hockey player with the Montreal Canadiens.
Better though, his younger brother, 5-foot, 7-inch Henri Richard was "The Pocket Rocket".

And although it's a nickname of a fictional character, how can you not love Rocky Balboa, "The Italian Stallion"?
