Hi. Are these examples correct?
"Security arcanums (arcana) are only shared with high-ranking officials"
"Only the two presidents knew about the details of the deal. It was an arcanum people didn't have to learn"

It is not a secret like something to do with security, or restricting information. It is not a simple synonym for 'secret'.

It is an extremely unusual word to use, but if used I think it would be used to mean secrets, mysteries, things only known to a few people because they are magical, sacred, or are ancient wisdom.

Eg used humourously, this person has a special recipe for how she makes her muffins. Secret ingredients she uses, and she isn't telling anyone except blood relatives. It is special knowledge that can be held only by the family.

The word 'arcane' is more common:

Quote:
arcane (comparative more arcane, superlative most arcane)

Understood by only a few.
Synonym: esoteric
Antonym: mundane
arcane rituals
(by extension) Obscure, mysterious.
Synonyms: enigmatic, esoteric, recondite, clandestine
arcane origins
arcane details
Requiring secret or mysterious knowledge to understand. quotations ▼
Extremely old (i.e interpretation or knowledge), and possibly irrelevant.
An arcane law

That is often used metaphorically to mean something is so complicated that nobody understands how the system works except the people running the process.

Quote:
arcane
adjective formal
UK /ɑːˈkeɪn/ US /ɑːrˈkeɪn/

mysterious and known only by a few people:
He was the only person who understood all the arcane details of the agreement.
This argument may seem arcane to those not closely involved in the world of finance

The assessment of damages was an arcanum of the jury box into which judges hesitated to peer; and it does not appear to have been their practice to give any direction to the jury as to how they should arrive at the amount of damages they should award, beyond some general exhortation to do their best in a matter which was peculiarly within their sphere.
